About the Item

Dimensions - H: 70 1/2 in W (Fully Open): 70 1/2 in D: 1 3/4 in Each Panel Width - 23 1/2 in An exquisite Antique French Empire Style three-panel screen by the prestigious Parisian maker Krieger, celebrated for their exceptional quality and refinement in 19th and early 20th-century furniture. This elegant screen exemplifies the luxurious artistry of the French Empire aesthetic, combining neoclassical symmetry, fine materials, and masterful detailing. The screen features bronze ormolu mounts of outstanding quality, framing each of the three panels with intricate gilded ornamentation characteristic of Krieger’s finest work. The upper portion of each section includes glass panes, allowing light to pass through and enhancing the screen’s architectural presence, while the lower panels are newly upholstered in a stunning light blue silk fabric. The silk is bordered by gilt-bronze trim, adding a refined contrast that highlights the richness of the materials. Both the front and back of the screen are identical, a testament to the exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail for which Krieger was known. This double-sided design allows the piece to be placed anywhere in a room—perfect as a decorative divider, statement backdrop, or accent in a refined salon, dressing room, or gallery space. The screen is signed beneath one of the hinge plates, confirming its authenticity as a work of Maison Krieger, one of the premier furniture houses of 19th-century Paris. Known for producing furniture for the world’s elite and exhibiting at major international expositions, Krieger’s work stood alongside that of François Linke, Maison Jansen, and Henry Dasson. A rare and luxurious find, this Empire style gilt-bronze mounted screen captures the grandeur and elegance of the Napoleonic era while remaining timeless in design and versatility. The piece is in good antique condition with the exception of some light surface scratches, Minor finish loss and normal age related wear. As to be expected with items of age and use.
