About the Item

An elegant and finely crafted possibly oak fire screen from the Arts and Crafts period, likely dating to the early 20th century, circa 1910s. This piece is constructed from solid quarter-sawn oak, prized for its prominent medullary ray pattern and durability. The front panel showcases a stunning cathedral grain and is highlighted by a raised diamond-shaped inlay at center-adding a touch of geometric sophistication characteristic of the movement. The screen features a gently arched top and is framed in a clean, rectilinear profile, resting on gracefully splayed feet with shaped ends that offer both stability and visual lift. The craftsmanship is visible throughout, from the tight joinery to the careful symmetry of the wood grain. The back is finished in a dark stain, typical for the period, providing a polished appearance from all angles. This piece would serve beautifully as a decorative screen in a fireplace setting or as an architectural accent piece in a hallway or studio. It remains structurally sound and in very good vintage condition, showing only minor surface wear appropriate for its age.A classic example of American Arts and Crafts design that balances function, proportion, and artisanal detailing. Note: Plants used for staging purposes only, not included. Vintage condition as pictured. Listing is for described items only. Dimensions approximately: 20"L, 1"W, 30.75°H
