About the Item

Radiant Spanish colonial style eight-panel folding screen featuring polychromed leather decorated in the baroque taste. Each panel is hand-painted with intricate details depicting fruit, floral and foliate designs over a dramatic parcel gilt background. Each wood panel features an arched crest echoing a Moorish or Arabesque influence. Each panel measures over 22 inches wide and 90 inches high. The screen is divided into 2 pieces each with 4 panels. The polychrome design displays a bold interplay of deep red tones and earth tones over the gold ground. The leather is conjoined to the wood frame with laced leather borders having exposed seams. Provenance: Retailed by L. Rossi Antiques in San Francisco, California.
