Spanish Painted and Parcel-Gilt Leather Four Panel Screen, crafted from tooled and painted leather mounted on a wood framework. each panel is decorated with scrolling acanthus vines, stylized flowers, and gilt accents, all highlighted by hobnail embellishments that outline the design and lend texture and depth. The reverse side is also painted, featuring a complementary but distinct floral pattern. This type of embossed and painted leatherwork, known as guadameci or cordoban, originated in Cordoba, Spain and was prized throughout Europe for its durability and opulent appearance. A superb example of Spanish decorative artistry, this screen brings rich color, texture and historical elegance to any interior, from traditional setting to a sophisticated eclectic space.
