About the Item

A large 19th century American brass riveted leather travel trunk in nicely aged original surface color patina to leather and brass. Ink stamped at both sides with owners name - Mrs. A.J. Wellman, Friendship NY ( information about this historically prominent family available online ) Fully linen lined interior with removable upper tray. Wood slats on bottom. Brass lock plate is stamped Eagle Lock Co. Patent dated 1877. Original paper label at interior of trunk - Sage's Trunk Depot - Corner of Washington and Essex Streets - Boston, Ma.
