About the Item
This hand painted box is representative of a technique
typical of the Olinalá region, in the state of Guerrero in the
South of Mexico. Guerrero is the most important lacquer production center
in the country known as "Maque". His procedure employs Chia oil -an endemic plant- and different natural pigments. The entire box has a black background, decorated on its
sides and on its cover with beautiful floral elements and plants, as well as some dogs. The back part of the box is not decorated, and the interior preserves the material of the box, in this case wood, before the application of lacquer. To complement the colorful decoration, it has some silver applications.
