19th century antique wooden chest or floor trunk.

The chest has dark reddish brown lacquered wood on the outside and the inside is lined with tan imitation leather material. There are three brass latches, one large one in front and a smaller one on each side next to iron handles. The sides are edged with thin sheets of overlapping lacquered wood having imitation stitching. The lid is attached to the bottom with three brass hinges. There is a small rectangle of Chinese lettering on the inside of the lid. Red Chinese Trunk.

This Spanish trunk from the 18th century features a long rectangular-shaped top which rests above a beautifully carved case adorned with leaf motif moldings and geometrically designed panels with decorative accents within their centers. Front paw feet project out beneath the thickly molded skirt. The trunk's interior offers a large open storage space. This 18th century Spanish chest is an overall rich, brown color with beautiful aging throughout. The backside of this piece remains un-decorated, therefore best use would be against a wall, bed, or sofa. Catalan Baroque carved walnut cassone or trunk, 18th century.

An excellent example of the classic dome top Spanish "arcón" or travel chest / trunk. Constructed of wood, the exterior is completely covered in a dark brown leather and the top and front feature studded brass nails arranged in decorative patterns. The nailheads themselves are decorated with raised star shape. The functioning lock mechanism (key included), hasp and side carry handles are original and made of wrought iron. Included are a pair of matching studded leather "feet" or supports which raise the trunk off of the floor allowing air to circulate, thus protecting the bottom from moisture.
