This is an antique Casablanca travel trunk. A North African, leather portmanteau case dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910. A charming and tactile example, rich in colour and decorative appeal.
Delightful Edwardian travel trunk of North African origin
Quality deep red leather presents a gently time-worn patina
Robust construction, braced with tin strapping for added strength
Tin base with wooden skids provides stability and durability
Stout lid opens at the three-quarter point upon prominent external hinges dressed in leather
Interior lined with a striking Oriental peony pattern, displaying scarlet and soft pastel hues
Leather surfaces accentuated with stitched decorative motifs throughout
Lid held securely with a long strap clasp, with retaining loop ideal for a padlock
Brass drop handles mounted upon attractive backplates to each side
A fine decorative trunk offering excellent visual interest and period charm
