About the Item

Antique Scandinavian Baroque style sewing box made from solid oak with a warm dark patina. Handcrafted by a skilled carpenter in the mid 19th. The chest rests on four small hand-turned legs fitted with a still working hand forged iron lock with original key. The sides and front have a curved design and the slanting lid shows a decoration of inlaid wood. Inside the chest is an open compartment, a closed oblong compartment and a small secret room. Hard to find ! A perfect box for storing all kind of small items, material for needlework or just as decoration and some coziness to your home. Very good antique condition with beautiful dark patina You have to press lightly on the lid to lock and unlock the box with the key.
