About the Item
This French wooden steam trunk from the late nineteenth century features locks stamped by the maker, Laffitte, and its address in Bordeaux, 19 Rue Esprits des Lois. Its wooden runners with brass florette rivets and brass corners offered protection from damage when traveling, and its original leather handles are still intact. An iron strap surrounds the lip of the lid and the front is fitted with brass latches and lock. An ideal piece to be used as a coffee table, side table, or at the foot of a bed, circa 1880.
