About the Item

Late 18th century hand painted Bavarian dowry chest dated 1767 Offered for sale is a Bavarian hand painted dowry chest with cast iron handles, escutcheon and interior hinges. The front of the chest is decoratively painted with whimsical floral patters. The base of the chest appears to be an older repair of the original base which has evidence of worm damage and wear commensurate with the age. The centre of the base in painted with the year 1767 as pictured. This large rustic chest provides much storage.
