About the Item
This original painted trunk is a great example of Swedish country craftsmanship. The domed top, and hand-painted monogram all reflect its Swedish heritage. Dated 1865, it was likely crafted to serve as a dowry or wedding present.
The original brown finish provides a great background to highlight the blued painted panels of flowers along the front and top. Generations of use are reflected in the distress to the finish, many areas revealing the natural pine wood below.
Note expected minor separation of planks, including the domed top, stains, scuffs, dings and cracks all reflective of age and use.
This delightful trunk is just under 4' wide; it has been restored and waxed, so it is ready to be used and enjoyed. No lock, iron side handles.
