About the Item
Large custom made one of a kind cushion (pillow) created from a superb vintage silk Lanvin fashion scarf in a striking geometric pattern. A glorious dramatic power scarf depicting strong expressive lines and hints of an optical illusion. In contrasting colors of bold black, blue, lime green and punchy orange separated by intervals of white, making it appear all the brighter. Made of beautiful twill silk, sumptuously soft to the touch with a visible diagonal grain and texture. This treasure was found in the Bastille Market in Paris unused and in perfect boxed condition. Note the ‘Lanvin Paris’ logo sitting proudly on the bottom right in a pronounced box of its own protruding out to the viewer from the cushion frame. With a wonderful luscious sheen to the silk, this flamboyant cushion is backed in new 100% pure Irish linen, the aristocrat of textiles and certified by the Irish Linen Guild, lined in a layer of natural bamboo wadding, filled with new plush duck feather insert and a concealed zip. Founded by Jeanne Lanvin in 1889, Lanvin is the oldest couture fashion house still in operation today. Originally trained as a milliner, Lanvin made such beautiful clothes for her daughter Marie-Blanche de Polignac that they began to attract the attention of a number of wealthy people who requested copies for their own children. Soon, Lanvin was making dresses for their mothers, and some of the most famous names in Europe were included in the clientele of her new boutique on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore´, Paris. Lanvin's skilful use of intricate trimmings, virtuoso embroideries and beaded decorations became a Lanvin trademark. A contemporary cushion (pillow) constructed with antique elements by using fragments of precious fabric. Handcrafted in Ireland by designer-maker Katie Larmour. Perfect condition. Color: Lime green, sea blue, bright orange, black and white.
