About the Item
Coat stand depicting a Venetian mask in hand-painted ceramic with pure gold trim by Otello Rosa for the Venetian manufacturer San Polo in the 1950s. The pottery measures 21x21x9 cm, has four holes at the corners for possibly fixing them to the wall. The state of preservation is good.
The back has the inscription "San Polo Venezia Italy" and Othello's signature.
Otello Rosa, born in Venice in 1920, attended the Art Institute and the Academy of Fine Arts and in the following years won numerous awards in the Veneto region in painting, decoration, ceramics. Between 1947-1959 he was art director at "Ceramiche S.Polo" in Venice, and in 1954 he exhibited some works, one-of-a-kind pieces, in ceramics at the Art Biennale. Many of his works are appreciated and purchased somewhat all over the world.
