About the Item
A lovely 19th century bentwood folding easel in the Aesthetic Movement style, influenced by Thonet bentwood furniture of English makers, It has beautiful scrolled cresting and a central fan medallion, It retains it’s original brass patent-stamped fittings. It combines beauty with utility, a feature of the Aesthetic Movement’s ethos. It would have been used in a drawing room, gallery, or artist’s studio to display art work. It retains its original brass adjustable brackets and stretcher with spindle detail.
It is both functional and decorative, influenced by the lightness and scrollwork of Thonet bentwood style furniture.
