About the Item
This late Victorian easel, dating to around 1890, is crafted in the Louis XV style and finished in a soft mint green paint with parcel-gilt highlights. The top features a finely carved shell cresting above a classic rise-and-fall mechanism, supported by a shaped lower shelf with a gadrooned edge. The piece stands on elegant cabriole legs, creating an attractive French-inspired silhouette.
This easel comes with the added interest of having been used as an ex film and television prop. Although its exact screen appearances are unconfirmed, similar pieces are routinely hired for period dramas, historical films and popular TV series, meaning you may well recognise it from your favourite shows or films.
