About the Item

This mid nineteenth century French Napoleon III period ebonized floor easel features gold painted detailing of scrolling acanthus leaves at the top and a central rosette on the stretcher below. Its 2 inch deep tray has an adjustable height and is detailed with a central garland with knotted ribbon and a rosette at each end. The pitch of the easel may also be adjusted using the screw that tightens onto the armature on the back leg of its A frame. A unique find to display a piece of artwork or to stand alone as a work of art itself, circa 1860.
