About the Item

Magazine rack by Mathieu Matégot in green painted perforated metal and brass dating from the 1950s. It has been lightely repainted, with the same original color. Born in Hungary, Mathieu Matégot moved to Paris in 1931 and was naturalized French in 1945. The same year, he opened a creative workshop and became one of the first to imagine furniture and objects in perforated metal, of which he patented several processes. Mathieu Matégot works as a creator and each of his creations, except small objects, is released in limited series. He invented a new technique, rigitule, a finely perforated sheet metal. At the time, Mategot's productions decorated luxurious interiors, alongside productions from other great designers such as Jean Royère, Jacques Adnet, Jean Prouvé, Pierre Guariche...
