About the Item

Place your Bible or favorite volume on this elegant antique Baroque book stand, crafted in Italy circa 1880. Resting on four scrolled feet beneath a shaped front apron, the lectern features an impressive, deeply carved shell motif across the back, a hallmark of late Baroque Italian ornamentation. The richly contoured silhouette and gilt accents give the piece a warm, timeworn glow, while the slanted platform provides the perfect angle for displaying a book, cookbook, or music score. This sculptural stand is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and retains a beautifully patinated gilt finish throughout. Measures: 15" W x 11.25" D x 13.5" H.
