About the Item

A wonderful music or book stand, made in France towards the end of the 19th century. This understated design highlights the material and skill of the carver, with its post made of solid oak that has been turned in a classic balustraded form. The oak has been quarter-sawn giving it a striated appearance which is sometimes referred to as ‘tiger oak’. A tripodal base made of three, shaped legs elevate the stand for a sense of lightness. One could even use this stand like an easel to display small, framed works. Please view the detailed images to see more.
