About the Item
This is an ‘Ivy’ Trefoil Umbrella Stand, designed by Emanuela Frattini Magnusson and Carl Gustav Magnusson for EFM C&E in 1991. It was produced in Italy on behalf of the Museum of Modern Art. The design was re-released in 2016 for Design Within Reach, but this example was part of the original production run.
The stand is constructed of non-corrosive, recycled cast-aluminum. The top of the piece is in the shape of a trefoil, allowing umbrellas and canes to rest without becoming intertwined. The aluminum will not rust or leave a mark on the floor, and the piece is lightweight enough to move with ease.
This stand measures 12.75 inches in diameter and is 18 inches high. We have left this piece in its original condition in order to showcase its history. There is some pitting at the bottom receptacle of the piece, and there is patina on the rim. Overall, this stand is in good condition. Please see photos.
