About the Item

The pillow front centers on a 19th-century Ottoman silk velvet panel embroidered in metallic thread using the Samra technique—a refined Ottoman embroidery style distinguished by its raised, cord-like stitching that lends texture and dimension to the floral arabesques. The velvet’s deep plum tone harmonizes beautifully with the soft patina of the aged metallic threads. Once adorned with sequins, subtle traces of the original embellishments remain visible, adding depth and a quiet sense of history to the surface. Framing the velvet panel is a 19th- to early 20th-century European paisley wool shawl, likely of French or English origin, introducing intricate contrast through its red, orange, and turquoise motifs. The back is crafted from handwoven silk-on-cotton fabric, offering a gentle luster and tactile warmth. Recommended pillow insert size is from 95x45cm (37x18”) to 100x50cm (39x20”). We recommend the insert slightly be bigger than the cover for a full look. Insert not included Front: Antique silk velvet with metallic embroidery and wool border Back: Handwoven silk on cotton Bottom zipper Dry clean
