The choir cap, choir mantle or vesper mantle (in Latin pluviale, cappa or mantum) is a wide liturgical vestment that hangs down to the feet and is worn by clergy. The choir cap has a choir cap closure or agraaf, varying from a simple hook to richly decorated goldsmithing, and a carved hood (in the Netherlands: shield) on the back. This robe is worn by priests, deacons and subdeacons of the Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican Church at certain ceremonies such as the Hours, the Asparagus me, during the Praise and Sacrament processions.
