About the Item
A knife-edge rectangular accent pillow, made out of an Early 20th century Japanese Silk Obi.
The Obi is the long sash that wraps around a kimono to fasten it to the body, which through history became a symbol of high status and a fashion statement, depending on the quality of the materials (especially silk), and the decorations embroidered in it.
The Obi fabric used for the front of this pillow dates to the 1920s and it's been preserved in pristine condition. Gold brocade silk, soft and thick, with square raised pattern and floral motifs, depicting fig leaves and yellow chrysanthemums. The back is done in black raso silk, a thick and supple fabric which is very soft to the touch.
Includes a brand new poly-dacron firm insert, shipped along with the pillow cover.
