About the Item
This is a very unusual Chiefs robe from the Ewe people of the Volta region of Ghana . Hand woven from handspun cotton a mixture of natural and chromatic dyes in a very unusual colour combination. The original owner would have worn this robe during wedding celebrations and harvesting festivals. Whilst the piece has great historical significance it also has great versatility .
The piece could be used as a throw on a sofa or a spectacular bed covering . No tears or repairs.
Woven in the 1960's in exceptional conditon.
