About the Item
This pillow is crafted from a finely worked embroidered panel originating in India, likely from the 19th to early 20th century. The central textile is richly adorned with metallic wire and silk thread embroidery, depicting mirrored peacocks surrounded by scrolling foliage and blossoms. The vivid use of colored silks alongside metallic threadwork is characteristic of Indian zardozi and related embroidery traditions.
The original embroidered panel is bordered with metallic fringe, emphasizing its ornate craftsmanship, and set onto a cotton base in a complementary tone. The reverse side is made from handwoven ikat, adding a subtle textural contrast.
Recommended pillow insert size: from 47x39cm (19x15") to 50x42cm (20x16"). We recommend the insert slightly be bigger than the cover for a full look.
