About the Item
A square accent pillow, made out of hand-woven Bhutan raw silk, contemporary.
Known as Thagzo, Buthanese hand-weaving encompass a variety of techniques and materials. The primary material is raw silk known as "Bura", which retains a natural thickness, a slight luster and soft texture. After being naturally dyed, the silk is hand-woven into intricate geometric patterns symbolizing culture and spirituality, taking months to create, and generally used for traditional attire.
This particular fabric pattern is known as Kishuthara, a complex, silk-on-silk brocade technique featuring intricate geometric motifs; these patterns are often the most prestigious and labor-intensive, often taking months to complete a single piece.
The pillows are 18 inches square, with knife edge and hidden zipper.
