Maharam pillow Foliage by Hella Jongerius 004 rose Foliage by Hella Jongerius reflects a realistic treatment of botanical motifs. Its loose arrangement of silhouetted leaves is reminiscent of plant pressings or photograms. Visual movement is created by contrasting solid flat shapes with those that are more nuanced and textured. The Maharam Design Studio and Jongerius worked together to create dense weaves that suggest the physicality of various plants. This leafy texture gradually dissolves into the background, evoking the ephemerality of nature. The subdued palette enhances this sensibility by blending tints and shades of two or three often complementary colors to create a rich but subtle tapestry of motifs on soft pastel backgrounds. Founded in 1902, Maharam offers a comprehensive collection of textiles for commercial and residential interiors. Maharam pillows feature celebrated textile designs from the 20th and 21st centuries, from re-editions of the work of Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard and Verner Panton to recent collaborations with Hella Jongerius, Paul Smith, Scholten Baijings, and Studio Job. Hella Jongerius (b. 1963, the Netherlands) is an industrial designer working from her Berlin-based studio, Jongeriuslab. Since graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven (the Netherlands) in 1993, Jongerius has fused industry to craft, high technology to low, and tradition to the contemporary by reintroducing an artisanal hand to the industrial process throughout her work with furniture, ceramics, and textiles. The Dutch design collective Droog produced much of her early work, while later she developed in-depth relationships with companies such as Vitra, IKEA, Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory, and the Japanese design firm Cibone. 75% polyester, 25% cotton.
