Maharam pillow Washi by Hella Jongerius 003 Luminary Designed by Hella Jongerius, based on Jongerius's own collages made from hand-cut film, Washi transposes layers of translucent color to woven form. Using intricate blending techniques across both light and dark warps and iterative weft colors, Washi brings forth a multiplicity of values that add dimension. Washi is woven with rapidly renewable materials including a richly variegated linen and a lustrous cotton that brings a subtle sheen to the rectilinear motifs. Washi combines neutral grounds with lustrous tones of earthy brown, copper, olive, iris, grass, and citrus. Founded in 1902, Maharam offers a comprehensive collection of textiles for commercial and residential interiors. Maharam pillows feature celebrated textile designs from the 20th and 21st centuries, from re-editions of the work of Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard and Verner Panton to recent collaborations with Hella Jongerius, Paul Smith, Scholten Baijings, and Studio Job. Hella Jongerius (b. 1963, the Netherlands) is an industrial designer working from her Berlin-based studio, Jongeriuslab. Since graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven (the Netherlands) in 1993, Jongerius has fused industry to craft, high technology to low, and tradition to the contemporary by reintroducing an artisanal hand to the industrial process throughout her work with furniture, ceramics, and textiles. The Dutch design collective Droog produced much of her early work, while later she developed in-depth relationships with companies such as Vitra, IKEA, Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory, and the Japanese design firm Cibone. 55% cotton, 22% solution-dyed nylon, 15% linen, 8% post-consumer recycled polyester.
