A striking pair of authentic Fortuny textile pillows featuring vintage Fortuny cotton fronts in the celebrated Mezzaro / Mezziano pattern, one of Mariano Fortuny’s most iconic and theatrical designs. The pattern—often affectionately referred to as the “monkeys” motif—draws inspiration from Renaissance and Near Eastern sources, incorporating stylized figures, candelabra forms, scrolling architectural elements, and whimsical symbolism rendered in Fortuny’s unmistakable hand-printed technique.
The fronts display a richly layered palette of warm terracotta, rust, and soft brick red printed on a natural ground, with the subtle irregularities, tonal variation, and painterly softness that are hallmarks of true vintage Fortuny textiles.
