The fascinating fine silk embroideries from Uzbekistan are perfect examples of Suzanis.
Suzanis are embroidered with soft, glossy silk thread on hand-loomed narrow cotton panels, that are then sewn together to create a large surface. Their design, motifs and techniques vary depending on the region they come from. Chain, satin and buttonhole stitches are frequently used. The resulting look is a timeless one that delights the senses.
