About the Item

Antique Afghan carpet with traditional Ersari design, this carpet has superb colour with a very good orange / red field. The carpet has three rows of five large guls which are drawn in a very pleasing indigo blue. The carpet is of a very useful room size with a pleasing square shape. The carpet was woven by settled Ersari weavers in Northern Afghanistan. The carpet is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile, this is a really outstanding example of Afghan village weaving. The carpet is suitable for normal domestic floor use. Hand washed and ready for use or display. Additional information: Origin: Ersari tribe, Afghanistan Age: Circa 1900 Size: 9ft 9in x 7ft 9in (296 x 236cm) Reference: R-2072.
