About the Item
A Turkish approach to a style that originated in Romania, this vintage Bessarabian Kilim rug was handmade in Turkey with a wool flat-weave circa 1950-1960. Set against a picturesque black background complementing the green leaves from its flowers, the vintage Turkish Kilim rug emphasizes floral patterns, but includes a lot of space between blooms affording the feeling of seeing a hedge wall with roses. This lush approach to the design creates a feeling of this being a gateway to an extraordinary place of floral wonders. In each corner, pink blooms are in line in front of additional flowers in blue, pink and mauve. The orange, pink, mauve, and blue blooms are placed upon gold-brown filigree, which, upon closer inspection, shows flecks of burnt orange. Measuring 7’8 x 11’3, this piece would be ideal inside a solarium or day room among the wide array of possibilities in this size and elegant color.
