About the Item
Based on an original Asmara painting by Russian theater artist Ludmila Slavinsky, Kashgar was inspired by carpets of the ancient silk road, where artisans from Persia, China, Turkey and Russia commingled to create a distinctive new style influenced by their cultures. The light plum, sage and apricot lattice work encloses jewel-like blossoms on a variegated oatmeal ground with shimmering cream highlights. This handmade cut and loop pile rug was made by combining a loop weave invented by Asmara with the ancient French Savonnerie pile weave. Woven with a complex yarn made up several yarns of different shades, this rug has a unique texture and shading variations reminiscent of rare antique rugs. Has passed independent durability tests by the Independent Textile Service of Dalton, Georgia, USA. Green manufacturing methods used. Size: 10'-3" x 13'-8".
