About the Item

An exceptional 19th century Caucasian Kazak area rug, handwoven in the fourth quarter of the 1800s, showcasing the bold geometric artistry characteristic of the region. This antique rug features a striking axial column of ten “Memling Gul” medallions rendered in vivid hues of French blue, ivory, terracotta, green, red, and yellow—each encapsulated in finely detailed outlines. Crafted using handspun wool and dyed with natural, organic dyes, the rug exhibits a beautifully nuanced abrash—a softly shifting color variation that adds depth and character to the field. The wide main border frames the central motif with geometric patterns on an ivory background, accented with brick red, blue, green, and pale yellow.  An authentic example of late 19th-century Caucasian tribal weaving with timeless aesthetic appeal.  Dimensions: 3’ 10” X 9’ 4” Date of Manufacture: 4th Quarter of the 1800s Place of Origin: Caucasus Material: Wool pile on a wool foundation with vegetable dyes Condition: Wear consistent with age and use The Persian Knot Gallery, SKU: 2296 Memling Gul Kazak, Antique Caucasian Runners, Antique Shirvan Runners, Antique Kazak Runners, Antique Karabagh Runners, Caucasian Rugs, Antique Azerbaijan Rugs, Vintage Oriental Rugs, Handwoven Rugs, Geometric Pattern Rugs, Caucasian Shirvan, Shirvan Rugs, Antique Kuba Rugs, Kazak, Shirvan, Caucasian Karabagh Rugs, Climate Change, Reducing Carbon Footprint, Sustainable Living, Eco-Friendly Rugs, Vintage Used Rugs.
