19th Century Caucasian Zeychor Carpet with European Design Influences
4'6" x 13'10" - 137 x 422
This rococo east Caucasian Zechor was made for the Russian domestic market. An abrashed green ground displays three bouquet centered ovals with additional floral garlands along the sides and in the corners. In excellent conditions, this c. 1880 rug was intended for formal furnishings in the French Louis manner or their Russian parallels. But it makes a great conversation piece in any context.
