About the Item

This amazing caucasion rug, known as Marsali was handwoven in the Shirvan region of the Caucasus mountains. The rich indigo blue(indigo is a tropical plant in pea family) field with brilliant red, yellow and light blue border light brown guard framing the Mihrab arch create a most striking yet harmonious effect as does the Boteh pattern in the field. The balance in color and design in this rug shows a remarkable sense of restraint and tension. A very tightly woven rug, this Marsali is top of its group,as most Marsali have coarser knots. Wool used to make this rug is high quality and all dyes are of course all organic. No restorations whatsoever were found and the rug is in superb and mint condition.
