Antique Colorful Kuba Caucasian Rug with Star Medallions in Green, Blue, and Yellow. This wonderfully colored Kuba rug from the southern Caucasus features three star medallions and an octagonal shield ornament. This motif is common in sumac technique and design, coming from smaller bags that were also woven in the region. Its presence in this piece demonstrates the technique and design proliferation throughout the Caucasus. The diagonal coloring and arrangement of the field ornaments is enhanced by the colorful diagonal striping of the main borders.
