About the Item
In this listing you will find a stunning antique Kurdish Quchan Chanteh, or a bag for salt or pillow case. This flat-woven Chanteh features a rich, dominant burgundy red color palette with contrasting geometric motifs in white, black, and dark blue. The flat-weaving technique is characteristic of kilim or sumak styles, often used by nomadic tribes for items like cargo bags (chuvals) or tent decorations. Made by Kurdish tribes in the first quarter of 20th Century.
The chanteh is in very good condition.
