This magnificent Bessarabian-inspired rug takes the classic floral wreaths and garlands to a whole new level by showcasing them on a light instead of dark background in order to add lightness to the otherwise traditional composition.
The main field of the contemporary rug carries an opulent blooming wreath that constitutes the central medallion. It is displayed on an empty field and embraced by a decorative border filled with florals and enhanced by octagonal medallions that refer to the oriental ‘gul’, elephant footprint motifs, symbols of auspiciousness. The color palette is rich, including shades of pink, red, green, yellow and blue, soothed by the prevalence of off-white.
