A lovely antique Sarab rug, distinguished by an unusual emerald green background, finely embellished by parallel and offset rows of small geometric devices, creating a soft matrix, filled with a stylised herati pattern on which is overlaid a very small medallion. Characteristic of this group of early Azerbaijan village rugs is the use of fine camel hair for the background, adding a touch of preciousness to the composition.
