About the Item

This antique Shirvan prayer rug from the South Caucasus combines a Classic white ground with a rare field pattern of a series of geometric motifs ranging from stars to quatrefoils within a lattice. This pattern continues within the inside of the mihrab niche but a shift occurs above it over the rams-Horn tracing of the upper mihrab.
