This antique-style Bessarabian carpet (size adjusted) unfolds on a softly mottled cream-beige ground, its surface alive with an exuberant arabesque of scrolling vines, palmettes, and stylized floral sprays. At the center lies a flattened medallion formed by four outward-facing lotus-like blooms in muted rose and powder blue, linked by a finely traced network of purple tendrils. Surrounding this, large C-scrolls and S-scrolls in dusty mauve and olive green unfurl into leafy rosettes and serrated acanthus leaves, their sinuous curves balanced by smaller filler blossoms in soft blue, moss green, and buttery yellow. A narrow inner guard border of angular “wave” motifs in purple and ivory gives way to a broader outer border of linked cartouches—each enclosing a petite floral rosette—set on a cerulean blue ground. The outermost edging, a slim band of burgundy, provides a crisp frame that anchors the composition. Throughout the hand-knotted wool pile, subtle abrash and slight variations in dye saturation lend a gently aged patina, while the low, even knot-structure ensures a smooth, luxurious hand.
