Hand-knotted in wool circa 1910-1920, this 4x6 antique Chinese rug is a remarkable signature piece from China. It features colorful medallions and floral patterns that seem to be inspired by Chinese ceramic tiles with the lotus motif.

Admirers of the craft may appreciate this very special antique rug for being not only an exceptional find from one of the most special provenances, but a rarity to find a floral Chinese rug of such versatile size, scale, and love in its every inch. Though polychromatic in its beauty, like a dense and vibrant field of floral patterns, there’s a notable presence of midnight and navy blue, chartreuse green, pink and raspberry red tones. Connoisseurs will appreciate what an uncommon play of styles this is, with a playful sense of symmetry and scale, too, making it very modern for its age.The outermost border is a vine scroll, while the innermost is a greek key in a vibrant orange departing from the other colorways for a bright and lovely subversive accent the picture.
