About the Item

Antique Ersari Turkmen torba with attractive embroidered design to the face. A good tribal Ersari torba with soft colours. The torba has survived very well with some of the original long tassels still intact. These torba were used to decorate the side of a camel during a Turkmen wedding procession. This example still retains the original ivory wool plain weave back along with hanging cords to the sides. The torba is in excellent condition with slight wear and good pile. The is some ingrained staining to the face and back caused by genuine tribal use. Hand washed and ready for display. Additional information: Age: Circa 1900 Size: 4ft 0in x 1ft 8in (123 x 51cm).
