About the Item
Hand-knotted in wool and hailing from East Turkestan circa 1900-1910, this 5x9 Antique Khotan rug is a rare new curation from Rug
Kilim.
On the Design:
The piece enjoys traditional medallions and floral motifs in the Chinese style, with a play of beige-brown, blue and gold tones. Keen eyes may further admire a subtle pink accent in the taupe, as well as the fine detail of the Buddhist imagery throughout the field and border. Connoisseurs will note a cloudband and Greek key borders, lotus leaves, Art Deco spandrels, and other motifs keeping with the rich history of this provenance.
This rug is very quintessential Khotan in its patterns, though its colors are unusual and quite cozy for this style.
Condition:
This antique runner further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is ready for the floor.
