Made with hand-knotted wool in France circa 1920-1930, this 10x15 antique French Art Deco rug is an extremely collectible piece from Leleu Decorateur—the work of an iconic family label known for their impact on an iconic design movement.
On the Design:
Connoisseurs will recognize this as an exemplar of its kind, embodying the same unique principles of French Deco that began with Jules Leleu and continued with his children Paule, André, and Jean when they took over the business in the years that yielded this period piece. Featuring a light green open field overlaid with an engaging floral pattern consisting of scroll work with flowers and leaves in green hues with occasional burgundy and sky blue accents. Admirers of the craft will notice how the pattern seems to form an open field for a soothing impact on the eye.
