About the Item
A finely knotted rug from the Khamseh tribe, located near Shiraz, distinguished by a light indigo background embellished by parallel and offset rows of stylised paisleys. This motif was adopted here both for the field as well as for the border, the configuration of the latter being called ‘mother and children boteh’ ('boteh' meaning paisley in Farsi) as the larger paisley appears as if embracing the two smaller ones. An authentic piece of woven tribal art in original condition.
