This 16x25 oversized antique rug of Khorassan provenance is a rich and exciting new curation from Rug
Kilim’s collection of Persian classics—a particularly unique find among works of a celebrated weaving tradition, made with hand-knotted wool circa 1910-1920.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft may recognize an unexpected take on traditional floral patterns with finely articulated and stylized shrubs, rendered in a rich yet subdued palette of deep sapphire blue, madder red, and subtle ochre. What distinguishes this piece is the striking central medallion system: a dominant octagonal medallion, bursting with ornate detail, is flanked by beautiful floral vase motifs that stand sentinel at the top and bottom.
