Antique Tekke Turkmen rug of small size, these rugs are generally considered to be ‘dowry’ weavings
4th quarter 19th century
This is an excellent example with 3 rows of 7 Tekke guls The guls are very round and well drawn
The boarder design and the minor guls are typical of Tekke weaving
The rug is fine and has a soft floppy handle, the colour is excellent with a soft abrashed madder red field
The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and full pile The rug retains its original flat woven end finishes at both ends
The rug is suitable for light domestic use
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use
